Providence is calling a Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist (Clinical Laboratory Services, Night Shift, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety and infection control into daily activities as outlined in Safety manual and department safety policies/procedures. Consistently uses personal protective equipment as required and takes appropriate precautions whenever there is a potential for contact with blood, body fluids, chemicals and/or other hazardous materials. Maintains knowledge of work-appropriate aspects of environment of care programs, complies with policies and reports unsafe conditions. Successfully completes mandatory education within the required time frames and participates in fire drills and emergency exercises.
Continuing Education - Maintains and keeps current skills and knowledge for the job through continued education programs and participation on the local laboratory competency program.
Quality Control - Analyzes and evaluates quality control checks to assure accurate patient results.
Teaching - Demonstrates procedures, instrumentation and techniques to train staff.
Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement - Maintains ongoing and overall quality of the total testing process, relative to meeting patient’s and customer’s needs. Adheres to published facility SOPs and protocols.
Analysis - Performs a variety of diagnostic testing and follows established guidelines for the prioritization of work. Meets target performance metrics for safety and quality.
Reporting - Evaluates testing results for accuracy and appropriate intervention, performs computer data entry and maintains expertise with computer systems.
Critical Values - Responds to critical values according to department protocol to assure patient safety and timely clinical procedures.
Troubleshooting - Intervenes to correct problems encountered when an instrument/test methodology fails.
Maintenance - Performs instrument/equipment and reagent/supply maintenance functions.
Miscellaneous Duties - Demonstrates willingness to participate in additional job assignments.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Related health science
Will accept new graduates and provide on the job training/experience
Certified as an ASCP Board of Certification Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent, required
Recent graduates must obtain ASCP Board Certification Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent certification within 90 days of hire
MA-Phlebotomist state license required, or must qualify, apply for, and obtain the MA-P license within 3 months of hire
