Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Supervisor Cash Applications to our location in Liberty Lake, WA.

The Supervisor, Cash Applications is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Cash Applications department. Supervises, motivates, guides, trains and disciplines staff as appropriate. The Supervisor serves as a primary contact for problem resolution and information gathering for customer complaints and work assignments. The Supervisor ensures that departmental goals and objectives are met timely and efficiently. The Supervisor provides technical and supportive training under the direct supervision of the Cash Applications Manager.

The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes the Providence mission, values, and philosophy. In all aspects, the incumbent serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervise all processes and procedures in the Cash Applications Department; supervise staff with a diverse set of duties.

  • Take initiative to seek more efficient processes and procedures, while recognizing potential patient, workflow and interdepartmental impacts.

  • Act as a liaison between the Cash Applications Department, other departments, clients and vendors in an effort to resolve escalated patient account inquiries and discrepancies.

  • Supervise daily operations to ensure posting targets, service level agreements and performance metrics are met.

  • Plan, schedule, monitor and report workforce availability to ensure staffing levels match workload.

  • Manage requests for time off work to ensure staffing levels are in line with workload demand.

  • Manage requests for temporary and permanent schedule changes to promote staff morale whilst achieving business needs.

  • Distribute workload amongst staff members.

  • Provide departmental manager with organized and detailed data regarding individual staff performance, administering monthly 1:1’s to staff.

  • Participate in recruiting process for new staff members.

  • Supervise and post patient and insurance payments, contractuals adjustments administrative adjustments and denials.

  • Research payments that do not include patient or account information to credit to correct account.

  • Partner with departmental leads and Education and Development Partner to provide technical and procedural training.

  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all departmental reporting.

  • Ensure batch information is disseminated and filed. Also, ensure and routed batches are returned timely from the facilities and filed with ensuring control number spreadsheets

  • Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.

  • Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.

  • Closely adhere to set schedules and handle time standards.

  • Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect.

  • Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.

  • Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as PH&S policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience with AR, AR Credit, Cash Applications or Cash functions in a medical billing setting or minimum of 5 years’ experience with AR, AR Credit, Cash Applications or Cash functions outside of healthcare.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Experience in Medical Billing

  • One year supervisory experience
