Providence Home Health Aide in Spokane Valley, Washington
Description:
Providence is calling a Home Health Aide (CNA) (Home Health Spokane Vna, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence VNA Home Health in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Clinical practice
Assist in the development of the plan of care for assigned patients
Review the patient’s Plan of Care prior to providing any care at each visit
Apply principles of infection control in all care
Provide all care as directed by the Plan of Care
Restrict care to only that directed by the Plan of Care
Communicate any changes in the patient’s condition to RN or Therapist
Demonstrate competence in the following skill areas:
Temperature
BP
Pulse and respirations
Bed bath
Sponge, tub or shower bath
Shampoo in bed
Shampoo in sink or tub
Nail care
Skin care
Backrub
Oral hygiene
Empty catheter bags
Transfer techniques
Ambulation assistance
Range of motion exercise
Positioning
Make occupied bed
Enema administration
Simple non-sterile wound care
Evaluate that transfers utilized are safe and appropriate for patient situation:
Perform safe transfers
Model safe transfers to caregivers
Notify and follows up with supervising discipline when an unsafe body mechanics situation is identified
Seek emergency assistance when indicated per PVNA emergency procedures
Documentation
Document all care provided
Document any care that the patient refused
Document observations
How patient tolerated care
Change in patient’s condition
Documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner as defined by PVNA policy
Daily itinerary is complete and accurate and turned in per PVNA policy
Document communication and coordination of care with team members
Patient Data Security
Comply with the PVNA “Securing Patient Data During Offsite Patient Care” policy
Keep passwords private
Lock devices when not in use to prevent unauthorized viewing
Immediately notifies a manager of any loss of patient data
Participate in annual “patient information security” training
Will return patient information (electronic or paper) to the PVNA office when away from work more than 4 scheduled work days and/or will be out of town rather than storing in their home (see CSM 275)
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
Certification as a nursing assistant, current and in good standing, in the State of Washington.
Evidence of current CPR training and negative TB screen
Preferred qualifications for position include:
Experience as a Certified or Registered Nursing Assistant in home health care
1 year experience as CNA or the equivalent in preparation and practice
Computer skills
