Providence Assistant Nurse Manager *Up to $20,000 Hiring Bonus* in Spokane, Washington

Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) assists the Nurse Manager as a member of the unit managerial team in providing continuity of operational management (including staffing and scheduling), and patient care management of a specified unit/service. The ANM is a Registered Nurse who has successfully completed the unit and department nursing competencies with a comprehensive understanding and competent skill level in patient care principles, and evaluation of work performance in order to assure effective behavior in this leadership role.

The ANM exhibits behaviors that enhance professional development, critical thinking, and performance, that reflects the key moral commitment, ethical principles, values and philosophy of PSHMC. By using leadership and coaching theories/techniques, assists the Nurse Manager as delegated to facilitate the implementation of clinical goals/programs, including development of staff participation in performance improvement activities, shared governance, and staff directed team activities and all other management goals. These goals/programs may also include such topics as marketing of services; optimal productivity via a planned care delivery system and staffing plan; etc. S/he must demonstrate competent verbal and writing communication skills and is accountable for participating in selection and evaluation of unit staff as delegated by the Nurse Manager. The ANM, as a member of the Nursing Service Leadership team, is expected to communicate effectively with the Nurse Manager and work cooperatively with the Nursing Supervisor/Service Line Director in problem-solving opportunities. The ANM may be selected to serve as a representative on department committees / governance structure and will conduct select unit committees, task forces and care conferences as delegated by the Nurse Manager.

Individualizes patient care using age related concepts based on the unit population assigned for neonates (0-1 month) infants (1 month to Age 1) toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years) school age (6-12 years), adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66+) by applying age related concepts including knowledge of growth and development, safety needs, collection and interpretation of data, treatments and care typically required and participating in the evaluation of care. Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, administering medications, using medical equipment, participating in diagnostic or other procedures and when teaching patients/families/staff. S/he demonstrates comprehensive understanding of contemporary nursing principles and age related concepts related to assigned unit/service specialties and patient populations. S/he is demonstrates independent responsibilities/accountability for the coordination of the unit and occasionally provides direct primary care of patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • 2 years RN, with one year in the specialty

  • Prior nursing management
