The Chief Medical Officer for Providence Health Care, Medical Group is an advocate for the patient in the pursuit of delivering quality care when such care is initiated in, or delivered predominantly within the ambulatory care ministry. This position is responsible for implementing key integration strategies with the employed providers, clinic staff, hospital services, other community care service providers, and clinical programs to achieve organizational strategic priorities and to meet the needs of the community. Provides leadership in evaluating and identifying opportunities for improvement to achieve superior outcomes in clinical services, leads and manages quality and performance using organizational, developmental and management skills, the Chief Medical Officer provides vision and leadership to the PMG employed providers and ensures provider integration within PHC PMG. Within a dyad leadership structure with the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Medical Officer has responsibility for PHC PMG's clinical quality, physician practice issues, and the day-to-day operations of the employed providers. Through the development of successful performance improvements, standards and practices, the Chief Medical Officer is responsible for achieving the goals, objectives and long-term strategic plans of employed providers in PHC PMG.
In this position you will:
Develop and implement a vision and business strategy to achieve sustainable growth while maintaining a viable structure to support growth and adhere to shared mission and values that focus on quality, patient satisfaction, utilization management, and cost effectiveness.
In a marketplace experiencing the combination of a growing community need for primary care and specialty services, and increasing local and regional competition, experience in leading the identification and implementation of key strategic objectives and priorities towards sustained organizational growth is essential. The CMO will need to understand physician practice economics, productivity models and revenue cycle drivers and has a track record of success in physician group practice development and management. Also, has a successful track record in leading and building positive relationships within a medical group environment.
Identify and implement performance standards for employed providers that prepare the group for an increased emphasis on alternative payment methodologies.
Given the responsibilities and expectations of this position, it is critical that the incumbent demonstrate the leadership ability and skill necessary to involve and engage physicians, management, and staff to achieve organizational priorities and success.
Articulate and demonstrate the mission, vision, and core values of the organization. Integrate PHC PMG’s structure, standards, policies, and procedures with the vision and direction of the regional/system Providence Physician Services.
Serve as active role model regarding service excellence (patient satisfaction).
Ensure the utmost high priority of patient/caregiver safety within PHC PMG.
Lead service lines/departments to ensure training and modeling of High Reliability standards with, patients, family members and other caregivers.
In partnership with the WA MT Medical Group Chief Physician Executive, leads and guides the physician alignment strategy throughout PHC PMG with special focus on employed providers, integration with the acute care, ambulatory and community providers of services.
Have effective knowledge base on business/financial matters including managed care, and is able to serve as a liaison between medical practice and its key audiences, including payers, patients, other providers and the general public.
Effectively develop PHC PMG as part of an integrated delivery system in the PHC service area through clinical consolidation, program development, and strategic partnering in collaboration with the WA MT Medical Group Chief Physician Executive and members of the PHC Executive Team.
Present hospital point of view to practicing physicians as part of interventions with individual and groups of physicians
Collaborate with key stakeholders of the PHC service area including representatives from Acute Care, Outpatient Services, Home Care Services, the MSO, Foundation, etc. to ensure all aspects of the Providence Health and Services mission are coordinated to meet community need, program development, revenue generation and expense management consistent with the strategic plan’s annual budgets, goals and objectives.
Lead / participate on multidisciplinary quality teams that promote excellence in patient care outcomes
Oversee General Medical Education (GME) for the PHC service area.
Partner with other leaders in the development and implementation of the business strategies that promote affiliation and integration opportunities with other physicians and physician practices through the PHC service area.

M.D. or D.O. Medical Degree and completion of an accredited residency program required.
Health Administration or Business Administration preferred.
3 years previous demonstrated leadership in provider’s leadership roles.
10 or more year’s Clinical practice required.
3 years progressive executive management experience in a group practice setting in a multispecialty group practice required.
