Providence Health & Services Clinical Auditor Surgical Services in Spokane, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Clinical Auditor Surgical Services ( Surgery Administration , Day Shift, Full Time) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Coordinate daily activity and workflow needed to complete auditing assignments. Maintain, build, and update surgeon preference cards, working with clinical supervisors, staff and physicians

  • Coordinate and review peri-operative record for completeness and accuracy of information for journaling and charging purposes in a timeframe consistent with Finance expectations

  • Perform special projects as assigned that relate to auditing of documentation or charging, preference cards and surgical supplies (e.g. supply projects, determine supply usage for preference cards, supply conversions, etc.)

  • Perform patient charging and documentation practices: Review and verify using appropriate information sources. Accurately report statistics, patient charges, entering required or scheduled data for services rendered within a designated time period. Ensure readiness for the transfer of information to the appropriate systems by observing and auditing for accuracy and compliance to standards

  • Responsible to maintain ongoing education on EPIC system updates. Attend educational meetings, secure accurate and consistent information

  • Prepare statistical data and report for manager as scheduled and requested

  • Attend surgical department in-services and staff meeting

  • Assist with discerning chart discrepancies by reviewing physician dictation, operation reports, nursing documentation and implant records. Review documentation accuracy for correct billing

  • Assist with educating nursing staff on billing and charging for implants and other surgical supplies. Educate and inform staff on surgeon preference cards

  • Assist with data entry as needed in Material Management

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with materials management, patient scheduling and clinical information teams

  • Contribute to resolving conflict. Utilizes problem-solving skills to promote a positive work environment and seeks assistance in resolving conflict when needed

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • H.S. Diploma or GED

  • 2 years surgical tech experience in an operating room environment

  • 2 years work experience that includes general knowledge of patient care processes and understanding of a variety of surgical procedures and surgical supplies

  • Demonstrates experience with computer systems

  • Strong medical terminology knowledge

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Surgical Technologist Certification
