In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Supervise individualized exercise prescriptions based on medical information and exercise test data, including intensity, duration, frequency, progression, precautions and type of physical activity for a variety of chronic disease and disability conditions.
Responsible for the safety and well being of each individual in class.
Responsible to identify resting and exercise changes in vital signs.
Responsible to define the limits or considerations for initiating and terminating exercise testing or training based on vital sign and know when to recommend Physician intervention.
Select appropriate training modalities according to the age and functional capacity of the individual.
Interpret medical history and physical examination findings as they relate to health appraisal and exercise testing.
Respond with appropriate emergency procedures to situations that might arise before, during and after administration of an exercise test and/or exercise session.
Responsible for providing risk factor modification education to participants.
Responsible for performing initial patient evaluations and establishing initial exercise prescription based on assessment and exercise testing once ACLS certified.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Exercise Science/Sport Science program
Completion of internship
One (1) year of experience in an exercise related position (i.e., Exercise Instructor, Physical Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Aide, Athletic Trainer or Instructor, Personal Trainer) which may include school internship
Knowledgeable/skilled in arrhythmia recognition and interpretation of ECG/oxygen saturation and appropriate oxygen flow rates
Healthcare provider AHA-BLS/AED certified OR able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
ACSM-EP certification OR able to obtain certification within 9 months of hire
