Providence Health & Services Health Information Management Assistant in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Health Information Management Assistant (Medical Records, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Monitor physician visits, completes written communication to physicians, prepares weekly report of such for the DNS.
Monitor for timely physician signature of physician profiles and completes follow-up as necessary.
Demonstrate safe handling skills and use of equipment.
Assign accurate ICD-9-CM coding for reimbursement and for clinical purposes.
Maintain the Resident Event Reports and Resident Event Reports Log.
Inventory, requisition, and store health record forms and supplies for the department.
Process the release of information requests per state/federal law and policy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
College degree in Health Information Technology
3 years experience in a medical related environment
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Experience in long term care

Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Washington is located on the campus of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital. Our Transitional Care Unit is designed for patients coming out of the hospital who need skilled nursing care, end of life care, or rehabilitation for those recovering from surgery or who have a functional loss from illness, disease, or an accident. Our Long Term Care unit provides skilled nursing in a residential setting, addressing the needs of our residents through creating a sense of community and home and providing a model of care that is resident-centered.
