Providence Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (Clinical Laboratory Services, Days, 0.7 FTE) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

Maintain a Safe Environment for Staff, Patients and Visitors.
Consider Individual Needs in Communication with Patients and Staff, Including Ethical, Cultural, Psychosocial, Religious and Age Specific Aspects.

Follow the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements.
MT/MLS rotating in Hematology
Perform analyses in hematology and urinalysis section repertoire according to approved procedures.
Perform blood banking activities to approved procedures.
MT/MLS rotating in Chemistry
Perform analyses in chemistry areas, including electrolytes and basic chemistries, enzymes chemistries, and therapeutic drug monitoring according to approved procedures.
Perform analyses in coagulation to approved procedures.
MT/MLS – Unregistered
Perform analyses in lab sections where on-the-job training has been successfully completed. Analyses are performed according to approved procedures and during times when a registered medical technologist is present in the laboratory.
MT/MLS – General Duties
Organize a variety of work to ensure rapid testing of high priority work and completion of all work within acceptable time frame.
Document patient results using current reporting system. Questions unusual or critical value results and takes appropriate action to confirm result.
Transmit critical value results promptly to nursing personnel and/or medical staff. Documents action.
Perform and documents required quality control. Takes appropriate action when quality control results are outside acceptable limits.
Perform assigned equipment maintenance according to recommended procedure in a timely fashion. Records maintenance performed as well as function verifications, date, and initials.
Perform equipment, reagents, and procedure troubleshooting when situation warrants.
Prepare, label, and quality controls various reagents used in testing according to recommended procedure.
May accession, process and distribute specimens as needed as an adjunct to lab assistants. Responds to requests for preliminary and final reports as an adjunct to departmental secretary.
Take an active part in continuing education by reading relevant technical and medical journals, going to local workshops, attending lab meetings, and continuing education programs in the hospital.
Take an active part in work place communications, to enhance work flow and problem solving and to improve lab operations, by attending meetings, reading postings and other communications.
Perform tasks in accordance with policies and procedures.
Demonstrate Effective Workload Management.
Maintain Current Knowledge of Policies and Procedures Related to Job Responsibilities.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Sufficient experience to enable the employee to work effectively in commonplace work situations and to provide working knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques of laboratory medicine
1 year medical technology internship
Certified as an ASCP Board of Certification Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent
Recent graduates must obtain ASCP Board Certification Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent certification within 90 days of hire
