Nurse Educator - Perinatal - Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, WA

Under direction of the Director of Professional Development, the Nurse Educator serves as a clinical resource, change agent, facilitator, educator and consultant across a variety of settings. Assists in the development of educational programs and materials using audiovisual, online, and simulation technology to support teaching and learning activities. Serves as a role model, teacher, and coach to increase the expertise of patient-facing caregivers. Collaborates with professional colleagues, the Department Manager, the Providence Nursing Institute, and various departments to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluation clinical education, orientation, in-service, and continuing education for patient-facing caregivers in assigned unit(s)/department(s). Promotes, adopts, and embraces a culture of inter-professional collaboration, professional practice, and attainment of excellence in clinical outcomes. Serves on select committees and work groups, and assists with implementation of departmental and other initiatives. Continues to develop personal and practice excellence in the Educator role.

Shift Details : Full-time, 36 hours weekly, Day Shift

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field (if Associate Degree in Nursing) from a nationally accredited program

  • Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire

  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire

  • 5 years recent nursing experience in clinical specialty area appropriate to the Professional Development Generalist (PDG) role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program within two years of date of hire. Note that Master’s degree must be in nursing if Bachelor’s Degree is in another discipline.

  • National Certification in clinical specialty upon hire

  • Professional Development Practitioner certification within 3 years of hire

  • 2 years Educator or faculty role.

  • 2 years progressive leadership roles within nursing.
