Providence Pediatric Clinical Dietitian - Day Shift in Spokane, Washington

Providence is calling a Pediatric Clinical Dietitian ( Clinical Nutrition , Day Shift, 0.0 FTE, On-call) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Customer Service: Maintain and promote positive, open and honest interpersonal relationships with customers (physicians, employees, visitors, patients, and other SHMC publics). Provide high quality service to all customers; focus on understanding customers’ needs and follows through. Demonstrate respect for the capabilities, different cultures and or personalities of co-workers and Medical Center publics within the mission/values of SHMC.

  • Communication: Promote and demonstrate effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills.

  • Patient Care Responsibilities:

  • Utilize necessary data to appropriately prioritize patient interventions per established policies

  • Perform comprehensive assessments on high risk patients in accordance with standards of care

  • Develop individualized, age appropriate plans for nutrition care for all high risk patients in accordance with standards of care

  • Monitor patients nutrition related problems and modifies plan for care in a timely manner when appropriate

  • Evaluate patients response to nutrition therapy as indicated by the standards of care

  • Collaborate with other health care team members in planning patient nutrition care

  • Collaborate with patients and/or caregivers in the decision making process

  • Takes into account individual cultural, religious, emotional, language, physical needs when planning nutrition care

  • Accurately calculates nutrition support fluid, macronutrients, and specialized diet orders

  • When conducting nutrition education, assesses patients readiness to learn and anticipated compliance issues

  • Conduct education in a manner that enhances patients learning utilizing only appropriate education materials

  • Document in the medical record and nursing plan of care accurately using established charting guidelines and per applicable standards of care

  • As appropriate, participates in discharge planning assuring patient's needs are met across the continuum of care

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree OR Master's Degree in Nutrition or nutrition-related field

  • Current registration by Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or within one hundred twenty (120) days of hire

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Advanced Certification by American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition, American Association of Diabetics Educators or Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics

  • Experience in Clinical Dietetics specifically with age group to be served (neonate, infant, toddler, preschool, school-age child, adolescent, early adult, middle adult, older adult).

  • Work experience in acute care and/or outpatient settings, as applicable.
