Providence Pharmacy Technician Billing and Medical Documentation Support Specialist in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician Billing and Medical Documentation Support Specialist (Pharmacy Home and Ambulatory Infusion, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Infusion and Pharmacy Services in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Integrate the PSJH mission, corevalues (Integrity, Compassion, Justice, Excellence, and Dignity), Vision and Promise into routine management practices and decision making.
Coordinate and review patient accounts to verify accuracy and completeness of pharmacy filling, clinical documentation, intake documentation, regulatory forms, proof of delivery, accurate/complete coding, insurance reimbursement, and appropriate receipt of payments.
Advocate for patients by supporting enrollment in and utilization of programs that lower medication and other service-related out-of-pocket costs
Occasionally process NCPDP claims via adjudication specific to patient health insurance benefits or Medicare Part D Benefits.
Assess denied or partially paid claims to ensure that reprocessing occurs within timely billing allowance for full reimbursement.
Verify patient information and member insurance eligibility for benefits via computer technology or by telephone. Obtain and/or utilize pre-authorizations as required by the payer.
Prepare and monitor reports on patient accounts for billing and/or compliance issues that require investigation and correction.
Work in concert with medical records, health information management and referral/benefit/authorization team as well as clinical and operational leaders.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED
Current Washington State Board of Pharmacy Technician license
Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
2 to 3 years of experience in health care or pharmacy billing, collections or medical claims processing
2 to 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a specialty setting (e.g. Long Term Care, Infusion or Specialty Pharmacy) or three years pharmacy technician experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting
Experience with computers including proficiency in data entry, spreadsheet creation, data tables, workflow diagrams, flow sheets, letter writing, template creation, and report generation
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience with insurance/data inquiry/transmitting systems
Experience using electronic medical records and pharmacy software
Knowledge of Intravenous access care, Intravenous flush protocols, Intravenous pumps, and Intravenous medication stability and concentrations
