Providence is calling a Point-of-Care Testing Specialist (Lab Regulatory And Safety, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Customer Service: Maintains and promotes positive, open and honest interpersonal relationships with customers (physicians, employees, visitors, patients, and other PSHMC publics). Provides high quality service to all customers; focuses on understanding customers’ needs and follows through. Demonstrates respect for the capabilities, different cultures and or personalities of co-workers and Medical Center publics within the mission/values of PSHMC.
Communication: Promotes and demonstrates effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills.

Quality Control: Analyzes and evaluates quality control checks to assure accurate patient results.
Teaching: Performs training and assesses competency of students and caregivers for procedures, instrumentation, and techniques.
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement: Maintains ongoing and overall quality of the total testing process, relative to meeting patient and customer needs.
Technical Activities: Provides technical expertise and support for point of care testing, regulatory, safety, lab quality, and performance improvement activities.
Regulatory Activities: Collaborates with Nursing Service and other departments to ensure compliance with all standards and regulations.
Laboratory Safety: Follows all safety guidelines outlined in the Laboratory Safety Manual and Departmental Procedures. Assists with oversight of the Special Pathogen Unit Laboratory and team.
Testing Implementation: Assists in test request review, instrument validation, and implementation.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Performs instrument/equipment and reagent/supply maintenance functions and troubleshooting.
Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Collaborates with caregivers in and outside the Laboratory for projects and problem solving.
Miscellaneous Duties: Demonstrates willingness to participate in additional job assignments.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in related health sciences
Medical Technologist with National Certification, or equivalent certification
5 years Clinical laboratory experience under a qualified director
2 years Point of Care testing experience
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
AACC Point of Care Specialist Certificate
