Providence Professional Development Generalist in Spokane, Washington
Providence is calling a Professional Development Generalist (Phc Professional Development, Days, 0.9 FTE / 36 hours per week) to Providence Health Care Region in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Support staff education for perianesthesia and procedural units.
The Department of Professional Development aligns its performance expectations with the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Standards of Professional Practice which describes roles and competencies for NPD Generalists.
The Professional Development Generalist Role is primarily one of educational consultant, interacting with and serving caregivers across the organization about matters related to clinical education, retention, and engagement. Within the broad scope of this educational consulting role, the Professional Development Generalist uses the tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of specialty clinical practice to improve the healthcare practice of learners, teaching individuals and groups in a variety of settings including classrooms, online, and in simulation-based activities. The PDG role also includes serving as a team and project member, a mentor, and a champion for quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
Professional Development Generalists demonstrate increasing competency in a variety of areas that support the roles described above, including the following, defined by ANPD:
Evidence-based Practice and Research
Quality of Nursing Professional Development Practice
Professional Practice Evaluation
Mentorship/Advancing the Profession
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field (if Associate Degree in Nursing) from a nationally accredited program
Current Washington State RN License required
Professional Development Practitioner certification required within two years of hire
Five (5) years recent nursing experience in clinical specialty area appropriate to PDG role.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree from an accredited program within two years of date of hire. Note that Master’s degree must be in nursing if Bachelor’s Degree is in another discipline.
National Certification in clinical specialty preferred.
Two (2) years ofEducator or faculty role.
Two (2) years of Progressive leadership roles within nursing.
