Providence Health & Services Prospect Research Manager in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Prospect Research Manager (Foundation, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital in Spokane, WA. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

As the Prospect Research Manager you will strategically support the fundraising efforts of the regional foundations within Washington and Montana regions by identifying and qualifying prospects and providing strategic research support to fund-raising staff members. The Prospect Research Manager is also responsible for developing and implementing a prospect research program.

This position will be based in Spokane, WA.

In this position you will:

  • Design and implement an effective research strategy that takes into account the unique mission of Providence and the special needs of donors and potential donors.

  • Develop measurable goals and objectives for the prospect research program.

  • Keep current regarding best practices and industry standards as a means to maintain and refine an effective prospect research program.

  • Assist in developing and managing the moves management and prospect research program for the planned giving and major gifts programs region wide.

  • Prepare lists of prospects, and supports the moves management meetings and assignment of prospects to fund-raising staff members.

  • Compile lists for screening; review lists of prospects returned by screening service (Wealth Engine/DREAM) on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and on demand as determined by need, and make recommendations of top-rated prospects to fund-raising staff members.

  • Manage the research request process including working with fund-raising staff to establish and communicate deadlines.

  • Create in-depth biographical and financial profiles on individuals and organizations using a variety of prospect research resources.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related prospect research or a related field (i.e., business, finance, journalism or public administration)

  • 2 years in prospect research or similar research field; research skills using various online search tools (i.e., Lexis-Nexis, iWave, ResearchPoint, etc.); ability to gather, analyze, synthesize and use research information to prepare effective research profiles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience in fund raising (i.e., direct fund-raising, operational support, or administrative support)

  • In-depth database experience (i.e., accessing, data input, analysis, creating and pulling reports, etc.)

  • Demonstrated proficiency for detailed, accurate financial tracking and project budget administration

  • Proficiency in donor management software
