Providence is calling a Registrar ( Patient Registration , Variable Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:
Accept and support the mission and values of Holy Family Hospital
Support the Performance Improvement process
Maintain safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Consider individual needs in communication with patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psycho social, religious, and age-specific aspects, to include all ages
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior
Check-in and computer registration of all types of hospital patients (inpatient, outpatient, surgery, Emergency Room, etc)
Accurate collection of patient demographic, insurance, financial, and other information necessary to start patient care and secure the account on the hospital’s behalf
Explain and obtains signatures on necessary registration, consent, and financial forms
Explain hospital policies regarding parking, visitation, personal items, etc.
Collect money that is due from the patient at the time of service
Direct the patient to the appropriate treatment area of the hospital
Perform account pre-registration via patient telephone interview
Work with patients on financial questions and payment arrangements, identification of outside resources to help pay for their hospital visit, and completion a various applications and processes for financial assistance
Obtain written agreements from patients regarding financial responsibility
Perform insurance verification, authorization, and notification
As a Preceptor, provide initial job training and information to the orientees and assesses their ability to fulfill specified responsibilities
Required qualifications for this position includes:
High School Diploma or GED
Computer and/or data entry experience
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training: College education in medical office, medical information or related medical business field
Experience with medical insurance and third party payer requirement
Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Out look
Experience using web-based software
Customer Service experience
Financial Counseling experience
Insurance billing and authorization experience
Knowledge of Medical terminology
