Providence Health & Services Respiratory Care Practitioner in Spokane, Washington


Providence is calling a Respiratory Care Practitioner (Respiratory Therapy, Variable Shift, 0.6 FTE) to Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Provide respiratory care for patients as requested by physicians in accordance with all policies, procedures, and protocols as outlined by the technical policy and procedure manual

  • Maintain and properly stores all equipment and supplies

  • Dispense and charge for all equipment and services utilized in patient care

  • Perform arterial blood draws and accurately receive and document them in the lab computer system

  • Analyze capillary, venous, and arterial blood using established protocols

  • Keep abreast of the changing procedures and techniques of the Respiratory Care field

  • Operate all department equipment as necessary, to include:

  • Oxygen therapy administration equipment, cannulas, humidifiers

  • Aerosol therapy administration equipment, nebulizers, tubings, masks

  • Intermittent positive pressure therapy administration, pneumatic respirators, circuits

  • Continuous ventilation equipment, heaters manometers, alarms

  • Incentive spirometry therapy administration equipment

  • Chest physiotherapy administration equipment

  • Resuscitation/emergency intubation equipment, blades, resuscitators

  • Pulmonary function testing equipment, portable units, and computerized system

  • Pulse oximetry equipment, probes, carbon monoxide testing

  • BI-PAP therapy equipment

  • EKG monitoring equipment

  • Blood Gas Analyzers


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an AMA accredited school of Respiratory Therapy

  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Washington State (New graduates of AMA accredited school must be in the process of entry level exam to obtain a permanent license)

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist or Registry eligible Therapist

  • If not Registered on date of hire, must become Registered within 2 years

  • Sufficient experience to work effectively in commonplace work situations and to provide a working knowledge of the principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques of the Respiratory Care field

Preferred qualifications:

  • One year of acute care experience

  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

  • Registry
