Providence RN – Mechanical Heart Coordinator in Spokane, Washington

Description:

Providence is calling a Registered Nurse - Mechanical Heart Coordinator ( Pshi Adv Heart Disease And Txp , Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Have responsibility for assignments involving technical and clinical support to include ventricular assist device preparation, device readiness, implant period management, device monitoring, post implant analysis and clinical training.

  • Share 24-hour responsibility for mechanical heart follow-up, including coordination of hospital admissions and monitoring clinical progress.

  • Actively participate in all Mechanical Heart Implants, Temporary Devices (excluding Impella CP) and procedures requiring sedation for this patient population.

  • Facilitate patient care through clinic held 5 days a week.

  • Travel/participate in outreach and clinics both locally and in the PNW.

  • Effectively use selection committee as an opportunity for care conference regarding difficult cases.

  • Provide professional, peer and patient education and participate in the development of patient education programs.

  • Assess patient and family for level of understanding and ability to learn.

  • Maintain timely and effective communications within and outside of Sacred Heart systems and monitors patient progress for appropriate intervention.

  • Accurately maintain patient chart with current medical data and assesses patient compliance.

  • Monitor admissions to hospital, perform inpatient rounds, review chart, collect pertinent data, and identify issues that may affect patient care, to include discharge planning.

  • Provide clinical and technical support to MDs and RNs in the operating room during VAD implant. Able to provide emergent evaluation and resolution of problems while in the O.R.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related field.

  • 2 years recent experience in critical care/transplant nursing.

  • Recent nursing experience in cardiac critical care or cardiac step-down

  • 2 years caring for mechanical heart patients or exposure to this population.
